Solar storms and perturbations
You are right this very well could have been the result of solar flares. I have been doing some research on geomagnetic storms and this is one of the effects as it impacts GPS connectivity. I had similar issues but did not know what it was. About a week ago the kp index was about an 8.- TheDrone_Explorer
