If the battery is not connected to the drone, just press the power button once and you will see the charge.
If you press the power button connected, the drone will turn on.
If you do not want to turn the drone on but want to see the battery charge then you need to remove it ... Or hold down the power button and it will show the charge and then LEDs turn it off, release the button.
You may already know this, but I just discovered it (I bought the drone about 2 weeks ago) and the factory description doesn't mention it ...
