Hi All,

Has anyone had any luck finding a replacement battery for at Skycontroller 2 for my disco. I have the 7.4V version. I am located in Australia, I have tried the local battery shops, Ebay, Aliexpress as well as any website I can find with no luck.

Any help is appreciated.

Have you seen this option? I think the options are to find an adapter so you can use an off the shelf 2s lipo or switch to a dual 18650 combo. I made my own 18650 adapter. While I can’t charge the controller using the Parrot charger, it’s easy to remove the 18650 cells and put them in their battery charger. If you’re comfortable soldering, I can give you the Amazon links for the battery bracket, connector you need as well as the batteries and charger I’m using.

Thanks for the reply I has not see the option from the US. If you could supply the amazon links that would be great.

Cheers

For the battery holder I ended up using this one since it’s slotted. I tried a different one that was solid and with the batteries it was too tall for the space available. The molex connector is a bit overpriced and includes both male and female connectors. For 18650 cells I bought cells that were flat on both ends as comments on the holders claimed the button versions might not fit. And of course a charger.

The connector is also available from DigiKey but you need to buy both the connector and the pins. You could use the connector off the old battery. The middle blue wire isn’t needed as it is used by the charger which you won’t be using to charge these cells.

Then just basically solder everything together, charge the batteries, insert them in the controller in series to get 7.4v and go. This is from my first attempt using some scrap wire I had. But it works just as he describes in his video. The pads underneath will need to be peeled off the controller in order for the door to fit. I replaced the screw with a knurled thumb screw so it would be easier to get to the cells in order to remove them for charging.

Good luck and hopefully this helps.

Thanks so much for your detailed explanation. Very much appreciated.

I think Christopher Smith deserves all the credit as he came up with the idea. His Videos and Blog showed it could be done. I just wanted to see if I could make my own. But I’m more than glad to share what I learned from it.
