I've now ordered an Ipad Holder for the controller and intend using that in future if the whole thing isn't too bulky.

Well worth a try. No difference sadly. I'm pretty sure now it is either the cable or the crappy phone.

I've never had a phone with a c port. That may be because they were all cheapies. But until now I've only used the phone as a phone! Do you have a recommendation for a cheap high quality phone (oxymoron?) to use for droning. Anything but an Iphone by the way!
