Anafi as a First Drone - Opinion Please

The Anafi would be a good first drone but I would strongly suggest not bothering with sport mode and only fly in the slower film mode. It gives you much more time to react. I'd also suggest flying several flights in an open park or field before attempting anything around trees or other obstructions.

Thanks for the reassurance all, a mistake I certainly won't make again. Would you recommend some after market propeller shields as a beginner, and if so, do they negatively impact the battery life of the drone?

Grab a Syma X5HW for 35$ on Amazon to learn on. I crashed mine a bunch and the only damage so far was a stripped pinion gear tooth. I'm very happy with it as a trainer drone. Don't bother attaching the documents camera as it is garbage and decreases flight time. It also gives me something to do while I wait for the Anafi to go back on sale.
