Cannot find freeflight 3 app anymore on google store how can I start the drone

For the Parrot Minidrones you can use the Freeflight Mini app, which is still downloadable.
2023 May 22 ..
The parrot bebop 2 is discontinued , so i guess i don't get to fly my drone anymore with my new phone.
App is discontinued as well & not firmware compatable.
Thanks Parrot corporation for taking my hard earned money & tossing it in the garbage
( NEVER BUYING ANOTHER PARROT DRONE EVER.!! )

A good reason to keep old phones.

Parrot corporarion returned my email complaint about removing my purchased bebop 2 from flight forever & basically told me thats it. You cannot fly FPV anymore.?? I mean why should they care. We are all a purchase # on file & reached the end of our life cycle.

Seeing i've only been given a few more years to live after my masive heart attack , where yes i was dead for 10min. Flying FPV IS ALL I HAVE TO ESCAPE THIS TORMENT. But no, Parrot insist i cannot fly FPV with there product anymore. Its now a shelf decoration , wondering if i should just burn the Parrot Bebop 2 & toss in a jar on the shelf. I will join it there in few years.

-- Here is Parrots response to my email to them.

Dear Jeremy,

Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your Parrot Bebop 2 drone and expressing your disappointment. We understand your frustration with the discontinuation of the product, as well as the compatibility issues with the firmware and the app.

We would like to inform you that the Parrot Bebop 2 has reached the end of its lifecycle and is now considered a legacy product. As a result, we no longer provide active support or updates for this particular model. This means that compatibility issues with new devices, such as your new phone, cannot be resolved through firmware updates or app improvements.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. Unfortunately, since the product is no longer supported, we are unable to provide a replacement or fix the compatibility issues you are experiencing. We recommend considering alternative drone options available in the market that meet your requirements for flight and compatibility with your new phone.

We understand that this may not be the ideal solution for you, and we regret any disappointment or inconvenience caused. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards,

Parrot Drones

--------------

Dying does effect your finances being off work all of a sudden , so going out and buying a new FPV drone is impossible. My new medication thats keeping me alive for now is very expensive as well.

Yes , i do hope God Willing real men understand my silent suffering. Life is to short.

God Bless ..

Avoid death as long as possible , it is very terrible ...

If flying your Bebop 2 helps you to compensate for health problems, then my suggestion in post #4 is possibly a good way: keep your old smartphone and use it only to fly your drone.
That should work even without simcard.

Locked out of old phone , malicious software attack while i was working.
Had to get another phone & lost everything , including pictures.
So , let me go out & purchase an old phone & hope it works for a few months.
I think Parrot corporation is a bad start for any trusted consumer.
As far as im concerned.

I also am finding it hard to understand what the issue is here as well. You are saying that you have issues with free flight 3 but free flight 3 was replaced by freeflight pro. I fly my Bebop 1 with Free Flight Pro on my Moto z4. I also installed and was able to connect it on my Samsung Galaxy Tabe s5e. I think that you are looking for/using the wrong app. Check that first before you buy another phone.

What freeflight pro app??
Its not available..
I took screenshots to show , its not available.

You could download the apk, search on Google. Then install it on an phone with Android 9 (older will probably work too). If you want to use it with a newer Android version, install the apk and copy the folders "data/com.parrot.freeflight3" and "obb/com.parrot.freeflight3" from the Android 9 phone to the newer phone.

Went and retrieved my Bebop 2 FPV from trash bin.
YA i tossed it out , i was angry..
My drone was a bit nasty with magots and garbage juice.
Clean a bit , and dried..
Yup , blugged in power and motor error occured. Tried reset , by holding power button 10sec. but , nothing.
Frustrated and getting dizzy with stress.. I just tore the Beast apart , got an older phone for over $100 - rip off.
Thanks Parot Drone , more $$
The video still works ...
App is good now , with older purchased phone.
Attached armless FPV settup to my old drone build for , line of site freestyle only - Now its an FPV BEAST DRONE.

STINKY , but works.
Im a fighter , God nows , as i've already been dead.

Maiden flight soon.

Took some pictures of my , new BEAST settup.
Not parrot end of life cycle anymore ..20230531_155321.jpg

But why? You didn't read my post at all?

In case it helps (it worked for me simply).

I have a Parrot Minidrone Jumping Race Max, I squeezed my brain searching for Freeflight3 (old version), but then I found that it was long ago updated in favor of Freeflight Jumping. At beginning the new app only showed and installed on old android versions 4.x nightmare (*), but after that suddenly I could install the app, simply and directly, into a Moto G4 with Android 7.0 perfectly well from the same link of the Play Store (I checked app version in google play is 3.10.2 on both). It was finally easier than I thought.

Foot notes:
  • If it won't let you install the app in your newer android then you can try downloading the APK itself into your newer phone and run it (use evozi or a similar downloader). Remember to enable in Android the unknown sources to allow external installations.
  • I can also find the Freeflight Jumping app in the App Store of Apple available for download in iPhone 13 with iOs 16.6.
  • (*) for this nightmare process, used a Galaxy S4 downgraded to Android 4.4.2, manually updating the Play Store to 33-1-16, because it's now out of support.
  • No, I didn't try Freeflight Mini app mentioned in this thread, because I arrived here too late.

Once installed, in order to make it work it was very necessary to read the tips in the "Setting > Network" section of the minidrone manual (link to Parrot's Minidrone manuals web site). When powering on, I checked if the leds blinked 2 or 5 times (meaning 2,4 or 5 GHz band). NOTICE that most modern smart phones will DROP the WiFi connection from the drone if it has no internet (indeed it doesn't) in order to switch to another network with better internet (so firstly you need to disable this automatization in your phones WiFi advanced settings). Then I simply connected to the drone's WiFi and the app picked up the drone controls perfectly, and had a while of fun (flawless).

Well said. Forgot about that automatic wifi switching for best connection in the phones. Kind of makes me aware of the amount of extra bloat that phone companies stuff in phones these days to make stuff work rather than just optimize the software better. Tech Debt a thing in phones now which is pretty bad... I don't miss dev for this reason.

The fact that this info cannot be provided by parrot is astonishing but I guess the more we show parrot that we actually like to use these things maybe they might get the hint to keep support going and grow the brand a bit more to compete against the other guys.

I have the hydrofoil drone NEWZ. It's old. But that is not a reason to get the app out of the PlayStore I installed the APK file dont remember my old account, so I went and I started to create a new one. But it gives the same message: "Error Internet connection unavailable", however I have a great Internet. Someone can help? Because I really want to fly this drone again.
