Greetings fellow pilots! I searched the threads before posting this and did not find the answer. Is charging the Anafi battery in the car harmful to the battery? As a photographer, i was told not to recharge my photo equipment batteries from a 12 volt source without using a "Pure Sine Wave" converter. I'm no electron wizard, so I don't know why this would be the case but I have always followed that advise. Can anyone say for sure if the practice is safe for the battery? Please advise.

The advice that you have been given refers to using an inverter to convert a nominal 12v DC to either 120 or 220 (240) volts AC. Cheap inverters do not produce pure sine wave AC which can damage sensitive mains equipment.

For charging the Anafi you use a DC to DC converter which normally perfectly safe. I would advise buying some of the converters that have been linked to in this forum as they are known to be of good quality.

Thank you for the reply. i will research the inverters.

You do not need an inverter to charge the Anafi batteries or the controller you just need an adapter for the accessory socket (used to be called the cigarette lighter) that outputs 5v DC our has a PD output. You only need one if you want to run mains equipment in your car.

Okay, thank you! Nice and simple!
