Is range limited on BB2 with sc2

A buddy of mine who has a BB2 said range is limited going out to 3500m stock. Even with range extender mods it’s still 3500m. Anyone here hit the 4K?

To test range, do you need to fly over a long open area away from others. I'm only getting about 1150m with my SC2 from my home.

The farthest I have reached is 1.8 miles with a sc2. and i was amazed at that!
