Some exciting developments for anyone still flying Parrot hardware!
I've been working on bringing ANAFI and SkyController 3 support to Parrot Lab, my native macOS ground station and diagnostics application.
What started as a project to understand the SC3's communication protocols took a rather unexpected turn. We've achieved persistent root debugging access on a retail SkyController 3 running its original 1.8.1 firmware. Verified across normal reboots, without replacing the stock kernel, bootloader, or system image.
This opens up some very interesting possibilities for deeper controller integration, telemetry, video, link diagnostics, and potentially features that weren't accessible through Parrot's original software. ANAFI support is still under development, and the breakthrough currently concerns the SkyController 3, not root access to the aircraft itself.
I'm documenting the research and will share more as things progress. There are some rather interesting findings that deserve their own write-up.
