Anyone know how to trim footage but keep the Meta data that shows the GPS location?

Using Quicktime I can trim away bits of flights that are not needed (the usual take off and hover to adjust settings etc.) BUT, when I do this, the useful Metadata including GPS location is lost.

Does anyone know of a better way to do this? I would like to be able to trim away but keep the metadata, rather than have to copy the metadata and paste it back in again.
