I haven't used my AR drone for about 2 years. having charged up the battery, the drone powers up as normal and completes its self checks. all four LEDs are green.
My phone will connect to the drone WiFi, but says no internet connection (i guess this is normal) but Freeflight says there is no wifi and will not connect to the drone.

I have tried re-setting the drone, connecting from a different phone and an iPad, and tried forgetting the network and restarting the phone.
I have also re-installed free flight.

There doesn't appear to be a way of updating the firmware without the phone connecting to the drone's Wifi

Any help much appreciated please

I’m in the same situation. After a couple of years without use, now I realize that app doesn’t work….
No way to update….

I have same problem. But old ipad (Ipad 3) works perfectly. May be problem with new protocol of new Iphone IOS version?

In addition: iphone SE with IOS 15.8.3 works fine. IPhone XS with IOS 18.3 not connected with ARDRONE Parrot 1.0! Updating ARDRONE firmware from IPhone SE finished succesfully.

Sounds like your AR drone’s being a real pain in the neck. Here’s the deal:
  1. WiFi Glitch: Even though your phone connects to the drone’s WiFi, it might not be handshaking properly with FreeFlight. Double-check the WiFi password (usually "12345678" by default) and make sure you’re connecting to the right network.
  2. Firmware Funk: Since you can’t update the firmware without connecting, you might be stuck in a loop. Try using an older version of FreeFlight, sometimes newer apps don’t play nice with older drones.
  3. Factory Reset: If you haven’t already, do a full factory reset on the drone. Sometimes it clears out gremlins in the system.
  4. Router Interference: Make sure your phone isn’t auto-switching to another WiFi network or cellular data. Turn off auto-join for other networks and keep cellular data off while connecting.
  5. Battery Check: Even though it powers up, the battery might be toast after sitting for 2 years. If it’s not holding a charge properly, it could cause weird issues.
If none of that works, it might be time to consider upgrading to a newer model. Good luck, and hope you get it back in the air! 🚁

I bought a used drone on eBay from a reliable seller. I've connected to the drone's WiFi with my Android phone. (The WiFi doesn't seem to require a password.) But the FreeFlight app says the drone isn't connected. The version of FreeFlight that I got came from the Android Play Store. I don't know what versions of the app work with this used drone, so I'm hesitant to start looking for older software versions and trying to find a match. Any advice about that?
Would you recommend going straight to a factory reset?
