Been working on a neat project past 10 days, Bebop 2 circuit board inside a gutted Mavic Pro using Mavic Pro motors and props. A rollercoaster mod with twist and turns with obstacles at every bend to get this project flyable, it’s now flyable but motors are not ramping down fast enough at high speeds.

Wanted to use Mavic Pro props because they are foldable, With Mavic Pro motors not performancing to full abitilies with bebop 2 board, I’ll be forced to go with bebop 2 motors on the Mavic Pro arms. So here are some pictures with using Mavic Pro housing and props, coupled with bebop 2 board before I make the motor switch.

Was a tough project, went through many props to get each motor to operate correctly. I’ll post an update in the future when bebop 2 motors/props are installed. May be within two weeks if all goes well. Just added a dummy battery cover to cover the gutted bebop 2 battery, looks pretty cool.

Thanks for looking,
Paul

Thank you ms18e,

Trail and error on this project, starting to think the issues are coming from the larger Mavic Pro props. Too much lift for parameters set on bebop 2, going with bebop 2 motors then the foldable concept is done away with. That was one of my main reasons for doing the mod, have a compact bebop 2.

It flies well as long as speed is low to minimum, increasing speed then it won’t maintain level flights it’s slowing gaining attitude and that may be due to the Mavics bigger props. Already removed one of the Mavic motors, and started to mount a bebop motor. Three to go, I’ll finish it up next weekend.

Thanks again,
Paul

Hello I sorta tried this but I put rise fusion motors on my bebop 2. Did u ever have problem with one motor turning in opposite direction? Front right motor turns counter clockwise even tho it’s a clockwise motor. I have numerous motors and tried them and no matter what I’ve tried it turns counter clockwise. Any ideas?

Hello JJaboss,

That’s interesting, and glad to hear you tried using fusion motors on a Bebop 2.

Auctually, each Mavic Pro motor turns opposite of the Bebop 2 motors. So I had to change the propeller mounting components on each Mavic Pro motor so props wouldn’t spin off during flight, instead they are always turning in the direction of staying tight.

I’ve parked this mod, eventually I’ll place all Bebop 2 motors on each Mavic Pro leg. Have been working on the Camera, using original bebop 2 Camera tricked out to look like a Mavic Pro Camera. Looks pretty cool, this was tough to put together but looks neat after all the work.

Good luck, appreciate you sharing you went with fusion motors.

That’s awesome. I was gonna try the bebop camera on race drone if I can’t get this motor thing figured out. It will get dismantled lol. What would make a clockwise motor go ccw? I figured I’d try to put a ccw motor on and maybe it would go CW but nope. I’m lost. And frustrated.

Hello JJdanoss,

I think what will help you reverse the motors is reverse both outer wires, leaving the center wire alone.

Give it a try, that may be the solution.

Good luck,
Paul
