I'll be visiting Canada in October and I've spent some time looking at various sites - mainly Transport Canada - to find out what's required. Think it's going to be too much hassle to bring my trusty Anafi (registration + pilot certificate + Special Flight Operations Certificate as a Foreign operator) so I'm considering getting a sub-250g drone as the rules are much less onerous.

One thing that is not totally clear (from TC and many other websites) is whether a foreign operator still needs the SFOC for ANY drone. I am hoping not, but the wording is not as clear as it could be.

Can anyone confirm if a SFOC is needed for foreign operators with sub-250g drones?

Many thanks.

Got the answer to this by contacting a Canadian drone training company that were very helpful.

A SFOC is NOT needed for foreign operators with sub-250g drones. Good news, but will need to get a sub-250g drone now!

I'm a bit late to the party, but just to share a bit of my experience :) I used my drone extensively during my recent stay in Missouri. It was my favorite trip ever! The resort’s stunning landscapes and picturesque surroundings made for incredible aerial shots. It was super accommodating with my drone, and I managed to capture some amazing footage of the lush grounds. This is the place btw: Highly recommend checking out the resort if you get a chance <3 it’s a perfect spot for drone enthusiasts like us.
