Can't take off. The drone motors power up for a couple of seconds then it stops and shuts down.

Battery reads as having 59% after a full charge but I'm wondering if the battery is broken and this is some sort of safely feature.

Any advice

Hello Kelsall
Welcome to the forum
It could very well be related to an unhealthy or faulty battery, Is this an Anafi drone?
Does it stop charging at 59% battery level?
What percentage does it show for maximum battery capacity?
Do you have a volt meter to check battery?
It could have a bad cell and once under load voltage could drop below level that shuts drone off
Best of luck

Thanks for getting back to me. It took 3 charges to get it to 59% (the charger shuts off saying it's full) the previous charges seemed to shut off at not much more than 20%.

How do I test the voltage and what should it be when fully charged ? Is this a test for a broken battery ?

It's a Parrot bebop 2 drone.

Thanks again

Sure sounds like it could be either a battery or charger issue. I am not familiar with bebop’s but would suggest trying to search the Bebob 2 forum at Bebop 2
Likely someone there may offer advice
Best of luck

99% bad battery,1% bad charger....to test battery ,connect chrger to battery than remove charger leaving cable still connected to battery, check first cell,2nd and than 3th with multimeter set to DC.....if you have similar numbers between all cells your battery is probably good, example: 1st cell is 3.92 v,2nd cell is 3.92v, and 3th cell is 3.90v.......if you see numbers like 4.20v ,3.90v, 3.90v,your first cell is fully charged(4.20v) but other two cells are bad....i am posting pics of how to test cells and last pic is of my bad bebop 2 battery
