Is the gimbal going through it's initial start up calibration or does it just sit there with the fan on and blue light flashing with no beeps or camera movement?

Same thing happens with mine on occasion now. Used to be more often when I first used my Anafi. I have no idea why it happens, but it's too late to return it or anything like that, so I just keep using it and keeping my fingers crossed that it will boot up!

21 MP on a tiny 1/2.4 sensor is bound to have problems in the photos even when shooting raw. However the sensor size isn't as big of a problem for video. You're right that is a lot of compression! You really do need to shoot in RAW/DNG at least to try to get a better result!
