Anafi Altitude??

Okay, the steepest slope for follow me function is 30 degree-it's not steep. Second, the speed is 40km/h it's too slow. Otherwise, the drone will just loose you. That's mean-you can't use follow me! Next, I can't understand you actually what do you mean ”There is no height limit in this regard as it readjusts to you & your location continuously" ? What do you mean, It could fly at 400m above the controller in following mode ? Please explain me. Then I will adjust to follow me at 500m height from me and one kilometre in some direction to filming the ride of my friends or what ? First, I doubt it is possible and second in this mode I will not have control over the flight. My asking is very simple, I want to filming my friends during backcountry skiing on the steep slope from the bottom of summit. How to do that when the drone can't be higher than 150m from me,no matter of the relief. This is one very simple task! The other one is: How to position the drone along the slope and filming at least a part of my riding, regarding that , I will not be able to take my drone on the bottom. I can't explain more simple. Forget about follow me. Maybe it could be used to follow jeep or running person or skiing at 16 degree slope with 20km/h , but not real riding. It's seems that only GoPro hexo can. Therefore DJI developed Litchi for planning autonomous flights and filming. Flight plan is 2D (height not work), but mountains are 3D e.g. "earth is not flat"

p.s.
Again, with autonomous flight you can plan your flight around some object to filming you during riding. It's not a problem when you know the relief and your riding abilities. I think it is even better than this follow me function. The problem is that you can't plan your flight in the mountains with parrot. And moreover, you can't even filming your friends during riding or climbing-ice or rock climbing (as we already know). For mountain biking it's really challenging to operate with the drone in forest without obstacle avoidance function. Okay. Good luck and all the best

@Petko Mladenov Why would you want the drone to fly 500 metres above you? Even at 50 metres above you, you are nothing much more than a dot.

What you are asking for are multiple things in your responses above, not just one thing. You want to be at the base of the mountain & have the drone 500 metres above you? You want to shoot yourself coming fast down the steep mountain in the backwoods, where the trees are very tight together? No drone will be capable of that. They all require breathing room around them.

What you are asking for is something with auto-protection systems that respond at high speed to your movement as you dart & weave through trees at high speed, yes? Why did you even bother looking at the Anafi then?

You need something that is exponentially more expensive if you seriously want a drone. A much cheaper option would be to just grab some GoPro's & stick them on your buddies facing forwards & backwards to catch all the action as you all cut in & out of each others paths. Seriously.

With the Anafi in Follow Me mode it will do exactly that, follow you, regardless of whether you go down a 1 metre mound or a 5 Km high mountain, well, until the battery runs out that is. Why you would want to follow yourself from 500 metres away makes no sense. You wouldn't even see yourself.

I filmed a sports carnival event a couple of weeks back & at just 35 - 40 metres high & at a 30 metre radius from them, the competitors were unidentifiable. They could have been anyone basically.

Common, again this follow me. I don't want to use follow me when I am walking in crop field.... I just said that with Anafi you are not able to do anything in the mountains. That's it. I don't want the drone to be 500 above me on this mode. Actually 10-15 meters are okay. But, the problem is that this drone will immediately loose you at steep slope with some speed. Immediately !!! Explaining at the most simple way !!!! -I am on the top of the summit with my friends, I want to filming first me and then their riding. So, first thing is to plan autonomous flight for me, but unfortunately with parrot I can't (I will not explain again why) or to fix the drone somewhere along the slope to be able to take a video at least from the most interesting part. Now I ride my line and I am at the bottom of the summit,how I will take my drone from that place, when the the high is more than 150m ? Okay I will skip to filming my self and would like to filming my friends. How I can do that from the bottom ???? Next, during summer I ride mountain bike also and would like to filming. The main area for mountain biking is in forest (I am not participate in Red bull rampage). Without obstacle avoidance it is really risky to do that. Therefore, I think even DJI spark, which is much more cheaper is more appropriate for using in the mountains than Anafi, because of the autonomous flights using Google Earth and obstacle avoidance. Moreover Spark can fly at 500m above the controller. With a few words,even spark is much more convenient in the mountains than anafi. Now I have to sale my useless drone and lost some money and maybe I will buy Mavic air, although even Spark is better than Anafi concerning of outdoor sports.

Every cheaper consumer drone will crash in a forest following you biking.
Also a DJI Spark will not follow you autonomously downhill with google earth data. You can make a google earth based flight plan to follow a track (Litchi). But this is not "follow-me".

Yeap ! Exactly! I would like to make Google earth based flight plan around a summit and ride down at the same time. It's even better than follow me,if you not fall during the ride. But it is not good anyway. Then I can take my drone at the bottom and filming my friends runs, because with DJI you can fly more than 150m above you. Considering mountain biking, I mean to filming friends or they filming me in the forest. As I mentioned, the only one good enough "follow me" drone seems to be GoPro hexo, but it is heavy drone. Therefore for backcountry skiing I am thinking about autonomous flights-it is enough to plan the flight along the slope with some speed and just ride parallel,than "follow me" . For mountain biking it's risky without obstacle avoidance to manually use the drone in forest.

By the way with Anafi you can't filming also climbing (rock or ice or mixed ). I don't practice a lot, just sometimes and not need. But other people need.

And please don't accept me as enemy, I really wanted to buy Parrot drone. Anafi is good concerning of camera and camera options, weight and stability. I just want to say that if someone develop application like Litchi, this drone will be perfect for me. As I mentioned, planing the flight with Google Earth could be easily controlled as well, considering the height from the ground and not from the controller. But now it is really useless for me and I believe for many other people. And yes, I am really frustrated...

I think I get you more clearly now, I'm sorry that you didn't undestand my reply to you, I hope that isolating it to just that sentence makes sense for you what I am meaning about it not really having a height limit in Follow Me mode. What you want you are not going to get a cheap drone to do for you. What is one man's cheap is not another's, I understand that too, but the Anafi is a remarkably cheap drone all things considered. It's a more than capable drone for photography & okay for general scenic or inspection type video, but is definitely not the drone for your action needs, even if you did map out a flight plan using google earth, the accuracy for most drones at this level is within a metre or so. Even the Mavic Pro was only about that accurate with the flight plans I created for it with Litchi, which is an app that I hope one day is made for the Anafi, or that someone copies the idea for the Anafi.

I can understand your frustration with the purchase, it wasn't exactly pocket change that you spent on it & it doesn't live up to your expectations for it. I've just gone through the same sort of thing over the last couple of days realising that for video it is mediocre really, but, for my photography it's pretty amazing! C'est la vie! I need to save a serious amount of money for a better drone for video, but that won't happen till this time next year as I have other commitments in the mean time, so for now I have to use this one with its limitations of video image quality.

@Petko Mladenov it wasn't my intention to argue, annoy you, or to defend the Anafi to the death, that's not in my nature. The Anafi has its good points & its bad points, but, overall, I consider it to be a great little drone with exceptional value & bang for its buck (in certain regards).

On the Developers forums for Parrot there has been a post going for months about getting the SDK to 3rd parties to use it to make programs like Litchi. Last post from parrot was 24 days ago. It stated "We are almost there! " which could mean sometime soon or months from now LOL
After a period of time they seem to like 3rd party people working with them. I guess it keeps a product going longer. Just a guess but the SDK will come and then we will see who and what gets done with it.

Meter is not a problem in a high mountain. Everybody can imagine a a summit with steep slope and freeriding down . There are no any obstacles and meter are really not a problem. As I already mentioned all rider can plan autonomous flights according to his abilities. Moreover I think it's important to take a video from several points. Not necessary to follow you. The pro movies are taken from Heli just from several points. My next suggestion is about flight manager- if you can perform a flight and record without action, just to check how it will look like,then if you put your recorded data for a new flight (same or a bit edited) it will be just perfect ! You will gain the same flight which you already checked and record, but this time you will ride !

In one of your posts you mentioned the "Mike Horn - Anafi" video teaser as one reason to buy the Anafi and use it like that.

Did you know that for making that film in the Suisse alps they ...:
- used 8 Anafis with 53 smart batteries
- prepared the shooting for 2 months
- installed the equipment in 1 week
- took the video material in 14 h
- involved a team of 20 people (Parrot engineers, pilots, decorators, lighting specialists, special effects Manager …)
- ate 82 bratwurst during the take

That's great cinema.
I think, they had a lot of fun!

Really ? That's mean low efficiency... Yeah, they should used 8 Anafi's if want to filming climbing or backcountry....one Anafi to each 150m...?
