Sequoia stops storing images

Hello,

I am an owner of a Parrott Bluegrass for almost two years now. The last 6 months it presents a malfunctioning while on mission. The Sequoia camera stops storing images on the SD Card. I use the Pix4D Capture software to my mobile phone connected to the SkyControler. Pix4D indicates that mission is continuing normally and shows image capturing on the screen. But after landing and ejecting the card i realize that it actually had stoped capturing after few images. In the beginning this happened occasionally but now it occurs every time.

I tried the following but none of these worked

- Format the SD card

- Use another SD Card (SanDisk 32GB extreme)

- Try to set storage space only in the internal memory (but it didn’t save anything, even when I totally removed the SD card)

- Update Sequoia to the latest firmware

- Recover factory settings on Sequoia (actually this appeared to solve the problem but only for a while)

I tried to get in contact with the service part of Parrot before 6 months but I got no reply (their system returned to me an automatic email asking for specific information which I provided but after that….nothing

I tried again two weeks ago but I don’t expect a response (imagine that I did sent some images via WeTransfer that they weren’t even downloaded)

Did anybody had a similar issue and are there any solutions?

Thanks

Chris

Dear PoliYa,

Thanks for your kindly response.
Thinking back my history i think that you might be right. I thought that my problems started after updating Sequoia but, few days before, i also updated the Bluegrass firmware to 4.6.5. So maybe this is the source of all the problems. The question is, how to restore the previous version. FreeFlightPro or Pix4D capture don't provide such an option.
Does anybody here on the forum has an idea?
Regarding Parrot, no they didn't replied. The files i sent to them via WeTransfer weren't even downloaded so they were deleted. It's a pitty and a shame! For sure, i won;t ever trust again this company. Recently, i was asked to advice a colleague from another university who was interested on buying a drone with a multipsectral camera and i suggested DJI!

I ll let you know for sure if I find something. But Sequoia uses a completely different memory than BG. It has its own 64GB internal memory and also an SD card. Bluegrass uses another 32GB internal memory for its front camera. They are two different things.

Hi PoliYa

I found out how to make a hard reset on Bluegrass. You turn it on, and then you press the start button for more than 10sec, until it goes blinking red. This is an answer i got from Sensfly. I checked it and it worked!

Hola Chris

Gracias anticipadas!

Dear all,

I just want to know does the Bluegrass hard reset solved the problem with recording images on SD card.

Is there any way to downgrade to Bluegrass firmware? I have the same issue with Bluegrass. No pictures on SD card with pix4dcapture.

Best regards,

Ivan

Same problem here, the hard factory reset worked for a while, but is back taking half the pictures. Anyone have suggestions?

Yes, the same problem, but with a little bit of handcrafting, it can be solved.

The problem is:
1. With the new firmware, Pix4DCapture does not recognize the external SD card of the Parrot Bluegrass drone and therefore even if you fly, it is not able to save the images.
2. It is not possible to downgrade

The solution is to manually configure the Sequoia camera through your WIFI to indicate that the photos are saved in its internal memory.

How?
1- You have to make a hole in the carbon fiber to be able to access the button that gives you access to the WIFI of the parrot sequoia.
2- Every time we are going to start a flight, we turn on the drone, we give 4 clicks to the button to lock the WIFI of the Sequoia.
3- We enter to its configuration in 192.168.47.1
4- Select to save the images in the internal SD card.
5- Exit the Sequoia config.
6- Cancel the Sequoia's WIFI by 4 clicks on the camera button.
7- WITHOUT TURNING OFF the drone (otherwise the drone will reconfigure Sequoia) we start the flight.

I hope you find it useful
