Where to calibrate?

When one calibrates the Anafi, can it be done inside, or best done outside?

It's best to do it outside away from any metal objects or source of interference. That said I have don't it in my house and haven't notice any issues when I have gone outside to fly.

It is not recommended to do any compass calibration inside a building. You would be just asking for trouble. Find a area away from metal objects in a open area. Even sidewalks with rebar in them can cause problems with a good calibration.

As others have said outside, away from everything is best. I even try stay away from the phone and controller.

Put the controller/phone down where I can see it - and move away by around 2-3 meters, and do motions as prompted on the screen.

But once you have a good calibration - you should not have to do it again, I have not done any calibrations on either of my Anafi since I got them - which has been at least 8 months on one.
