Hi to all the members

Does anyone perhaps know what the range of the Anafi thermal camera is, the detection range and recognition range ie. how far away can you spot and recognize an animal or human in the dark with this camera?

Thank you again
Best wishes

In the real world 100ft is a good number. But other factors come into play like are you looking for a person in shorts on an 85 degree day? They will blend in with the similar background temperature. If its cold the person might have a high delta compared to their surroundings but then again they will have a coat and pants on leaving their face as the useful target.

suas.com has a calculator for this. Cheap Thermal System for Mavic with FLIR Lepton |Maryland|sUAS.com

Anafi Thermal is 160 resolution and 57* FOV.

Their calculator for finding a 1 ft area object with at least 1 pixel on it is 160 feet. But the more pixels you get on target the better chance you can see it. If you wanted to get a temperature from it then Flir recommends 3 pixels minimum that the target completely covers the pixels so that other background temps are not calculated.

The Lepton is a close in sensor basically unless your target is large.

Hi

Thank you kindly for all your technical expertize in answering this question.

It seems the range is rather poor of these drone thermal cameras when comparing an equivalent non-drone thermal camera for the same price which could have a range of a few hundred metres at the same price.

So it seems like one must fly low when using a thermal camera?

Thank you again

Best wishes
