Sky Controller 3 and iPhone 8+ mod

One significant design flaw with the Sky Controller 3 is the inability to hold a large cased smartphone. As most of us protect our phones with a case, this is an annoying oversight which I sought to redress. My design mantra is Keep It Simple, and what better product to use than the Bodger’s Best Friend: Sugru (Sugru web site) sold by all the usual suspects. I worked out where the phone needed to sit in the SC3, stuck a bit of camera tape (grippy, sticks well and easily removed if required) to the location, moulded the Sugru into a suitable shape and stuck it to the tape. Carefully I placed the phone into the SC3 and used it to create a small rebate. I removed the phone, left the assembly to cure fully for a few hours. It works a treat and can be removed easily if needed.

Yes, that was considered and part of the setup.

Looks good, and the geometry appears to avoid bending the sliding mechanism. I’ve got a friend with a 3D printer, shall give it a go thanks.
