APK From Parrot Web Site with Firmware Update 1.6.1 Pros & Cons

And we have a winner: lift it to 200m, so it looks like the real deal :) Time to go to my Spark amigo and challenge him to a dogflight :)
1.6.1 rc2 fw and 1.6.2 app
Do you mean 6.5.2 rc4 app from Parrot website or ds2atc's 6.5.3 mod app?
I think that I will wait until things settle down as using firmware and software that are both still release candidates does not fill me with confidence but I may be proved wrong.

By the way @davyg I am a year older than you and my brain hurts with all this.

My wee single lonely brain cell has packed it's bags had headed off to Join Nelly at the circus..... ? I can't for the life of me suss out why Parrot is doing this to it's customer base...

Is no one concerned that Parrot are in effect put up an internal test version of their software for the general user to use - as well as what is beta version of the firmware!!

Seems very unprofessional and unorganised !

My LG G6 phone is at Android 8 and allows me to install the App v6.5.2-rc4 from Parrots web page or Google Play Store with out problems. I did install the App as a stand a lone APK file which wanted me to upgrade the firmware. So I did and by doing that I had lost my in App purchases. Using the buying option again let me use the fake visa card which never cast anything. So my LG G6 phone is all up to date.

Now we move on to my older LG G4 phone that only has Android 6.0 and cannot be upgraded any further. Trying to install the same APK I get the parse error which we know is caused by the older Android version on the phone. So since the App was back on the Google Play Store I installed FF6 through the store. FF6 now says v6.5.3
Great right , not so fast as the in app purchase problem is not so easy to solve from what I can tell. It will not restore the Apps and when I try to re-buy them my own charge card comes up on google play store. Not wanting to get charged again I have not tried to see if I would indeed get charged. :)
I suspect Parrot is getting hammered with some very angry customers on their support phone lines.

I downloaded the app developer but I didn't update the firmware and when I installed the new public 6.53 I had to buy back my purchases. be careful.

I have fired a query to Parrot regarding the viability of the 6.5.3 FF6 app..... I shan't hold my breath too long...LOL

What on earth is Parrot playing out, at this rate I can see some unfortunate soles losing their Anafi'. So much confusion out there at the moment as to which to install and thats without throwing the "Updated firmware" curve ball into the mix.

Think for now I will play it safe and stick where I am until Parrot & Google sort out whats going on. And to confuse me even more:

On my phone I have version 6.5.2
Checked Play Store for an update, and nothing showing.

Did search for FF6 and it shows up as "Installed". but when I look at the details on the play store, it shows 6.5.3, shows a release date of 29th August 2019. Yet the phone wont see it as an update..... very odd

Information from within the APK itself:

Sat Jun 22 11:17:07 CEST 2019
version_name=6.5.2-rc4
package_name=com.parrot.freeflight6
build_id=43d2007d-79ed-4118-8f0c-016d65e8c342
version_code=60502204
app_name=FreeFlight 6

the update files within are also from Jun, and amongst the various assets their seems to be a lot of use of the word "Experimental", so I for one will be definitely staying away from any update until Parrot sort their act out.

Can only hope that as Parrot have caused this mess, they may come through with something to rectify. I just checked minutes ago from the Parrot Website and they are still linking this dodgy APK for Download.

Fingers crossed OR we may have to have a mass emailing session to get their attention, they have certainly caused a lot of confusion and in that confusion caused users to update firmware to god knows what!!

I think next week parrot release a final firmware.
So far who has this firmware 1.61 and using the public app 6.53 has found any problems or bugs?

I haven't tested the drone since I updated the firmware to 1.6.1-rc2 , although there is a bug in the 6.5.3 FF6 App in that any purchased add-ons have to be re-purchased...

No the Bug is in the Apk Developer version that downloaded to the Parrot site. I just intalled and open it no upgraded any Firmware and reset my purchases, they did not even work with the old Apk 6.52 I have re-purchased to see them again unlocked.

Same here. I had 6.5.1 on my phone, which I use with the Anafi. I downloaded the developer app onto my Samsung tablet, opened the app, did not log onto the Parrot servers or connect to the controller or the Anafi. I did "buy" the Follow Me and Flightplan using the dummy credit card but then I found that the add ons had disappeared from my phone. I could not re- buy the add ons in FF6 6.5.1 as I got the message that it was not supported by Google Play (or some sort of message). I had to download 6.5.3 from the Play Store and then re-buy them. Not a vastly costly mistake but annoying non the less. I think that I will wait, as I should have done, until things are sorted out by Parrot hopefully next week.

I only had the Google Play store FF6 on my tablet, it updated itself a few times over this last week... I opened it up and checked the addons, and yep they are needing to be re-purchased... would say that Parrot has kinda dropped the ball with this update.... and why did the add a Dev.apk for download on their official website..... still can't fathom that out at all... there has to be a way to roll back the firmware just like the user could with the DJI Naza units....(could even update the Naza Lite to the V2 firmware and get more bang for your buck)

I extracted the dev.apk and it is showing up a 1.5.6 update within the package, now is this an actual 1.5.6 firmware or something else...I dunno!.... I am trying to suss out what's what here..... if anyone here has any deeper coding experience and better at hacking into things then let me know how I could go about connecting a laptop up to the Anafi via WIFI and checking out any methods to attempt a firmware roll back...

I mostly use a G4 with Anafi - nice big screen - and upgraded to Android 7 without any probs to run 6.5.2
