Freeflight 6 mod app

Version 6.7.0 is out, waiting for modded version ?
I will not use it. It limits the tracking mode to a distance of 50m, transmitting a remote drone identification transmission (the DJI already wanted to introduce it, but people were outraged).
Most of the developments were due to Anafi USA. It is unlikely that the commercial Anafi will solve the battery problems ... There is no mention of this ...
Encryption ... flight log off ... why? The problem is that there is no flight log when it drops due to the battery ...

I tend to agree with Gipsz Jakab above. I feel the updates for the Anafi in general are too vague and generic to merit an immediate update, there’s nothing really that new. It mentions something about advanced RTH and improved flight characteristics if the compass goes wonky but no detail. However I can’t find any info about the tracking capabilities being limited (?).

Nidge.

The 50m meters is mentioned in the release paper somewhere - something about EU regulations, blah blah.

1) For the remote ID transmission, you can chose to enable it or disable it as it is compulsory to use it in the European Community only for drone above 800g.
Contrary to DJI drones above 800g where I guess you can’t disable it....
In the future, and for professional flights around airports in Europe (that I’m going to do for a roof inspection on Sunday), it won’t be necessary to buy an extra device, the Anafi is already able to do it...

2) The improvement for compass rejection errors in the positioning an hover algorithm is not ‘vague’ as it was debated long ago in the dev forum : It just means that when our Anafi is flying outside, getting informations from the magnetometer, the GPS, the accelerometer and the bottom camera... but a strong magnetic interference is found and leads to an erratic drift of the Anafi, then some information of the magnetometer is rejected to give more importance to the other captors. I had twice problems with magnetic interferences and they seem now to have solved that...

3) The 50m limitation is for the follow me function only.
It just means that it won’t allow you to follow you if you are positioned 50m away (according to EU regulation... but it seems risky to have the Anafi find you in a little rectangle 50 meters away !)

For some more info about maps and coordinates I found that on Parrot ‘News’ :

The latest software update to FreeFlight 6 enables the powerful data privacy, security and encryption features anticipated for the newest ANAFI USA. Manufactured in the U.S., ANAFI USA offers the same high-end security, durability and imaging capabilities as Parrot’s Short-Range Reconnaissance (SRR) drone designed for the U.S. Army.

Secure Digital (SD) Card Encryption

ANAFI USA’s Secure Digital (SD) card encryption feature ensures that saved data cannot be read if the drone or SD card is lost or stolen. Once encrypted, data can only be read with the decryption key. With FreeFlight6, users can create an encryption profile and password to unlock the SD card, manage their encryption profiles, delete, copy, or remove encryption altogether.

Once an SD card has been encrypted, it is impossible to write or read information on the card without the correct password. To access data from a computer, users will need to connect to FreeFlight 6 from their mobile device or tablet and unlock the SD card via the application.

ANAFI USA’s data encryption (AES-XTS with 512-bit key length) and privacy features are compliant with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), delivering best-in-class privacy and security for sensitive missions.

Parrot also uses trusted standards and open protocols (such as Wi-Fi, WPA2, RTP/RTSP, H.264, and GUTMA) to ensure the utmost interoperability and security for all recorded data.

Thermal Images in 32x Zoom

ANAFI USA offers an industry-first 32x zoom, allowing operators to see details clearly from up to 5 km (3.1 mi) away. The FreeFlight 6 update allows the blended view from both the two 21-megapixel camera and the thermal FLIR camera during 32x zoom to be adjusted to usage (edit color palettes, opacity, isolate hotspots…).

The enhanced thermal support also allows users to pause the scene and adjust the thermal and visible overlay intensity designed specifically for inspection, public safety and search-and-rescue. Post-flight analysis and media editing can now be accessed directly within FreeFlight 6 application to edit the palettes and observe details that weren’t spotted during the mission.

Military Grid Reference System Coordinates

ANAFI USA also adds Military Grid Reference Systems (MGRS) through the FreeFlight 6 update. On the map view, this widget displays the coordinates of a specific point on the map. It can be used on a point-of-interest (POI), during the creation of a Flight Plan or to set the position of the Home for the return-to-home (RTH) feature. The MGRS coordinates can be copied, edited or shared in just a few taps.

There are three different modes available including:
Dynamic: this mode shows either the drone’s coordinates, a waypoint, POI or Home when a mission is ongoing.
Drone: the coordinates displayed in this mode are the coordinates of the drone.
Reticle: displays the coordinates from a reticle at the center of the map.

Return to Home Enhancements for all ANAFI drones

The ANAFI range will now have access to enhanced Return to Home features with the new FreeFlight 6 update. Users can now select preferred behaviors at the end of a Return to Home and set the hover altitude between 1 and 10 meters. New Return to Home features also include the ability to change the default take-off position to a return location directly on the map or to its own position.

In accordance with EU regulations, FreeFlight 6 now limits the Follow Me distance to 50 meters and offers the ability to broadcast Drone Remote Identification.

Automatic sign-ins through Apple ID allows Apple users to sign in to their MyParrot account with two-factor authentication.

New Security Edition Features

FreeFlight 6 offers new Security Edition (SE) features for security agencies, government, defense and search-and-rescue professionals.

The users can now preload technical maps for offline access. This feature allows you to upload custom KML or extracts from TIFF files that contain relevant mission information and access them without worry of connectivity in the field.

Flight logs can also be deactivated for specific missions. By deactivating flight logs, no data will be recorded during extremely confidential missions.

Additionally, users will now have the ability to deactivate the Smart Return to Home (RTH) feature. By shutting off the feature, the ANAFI will not return to home when the drone disconnects or is running low on battery; instead, it will hover in its location until the battery depletes, at which time it will auto-land in place. This feature was designed for specialist missions when the user may not wish for the drone to return home if it disconnects under a bridge, or for missions in which live data recovery is more vital than the drone recovery itself.

Just to clarify does that statement mean that "follow me" will not work if you are >50m away from the Anafi but it will work if you are <=50m away from it? Is that just for the initialisation of the "follow me" or will the Anafi stop following you if you get more than 50m away e.g. in a car?

Hello guys!
Long time no see.

I found the file we need to replace has been changed in the new version. Parrot dev has removed some annotations, @nonnull and @nullable, of some objects in the java code but I don't know what this will affect the whole application. They are generally used to ignore some exceptions.

The file is a part of Ground SDK(Parrot-Developers/groundsdk-android), and it must be compatible to most of applications that use the same SDK, so I guess the difference will not make problems, but do it at your own risks, as always.

I have tested the mode change, and it seemed to work!

Good afternoon "ds2atc" good to see you around and still helping us out. Fantastic turnaround time as usual, I for one very much appreciate you taking the time to come back here and give us the goodies, many thanks

"specialist missions when the user may not wish for the drone to return home" Typical terrorist use, they will be happy about this.
They encrypt the mission, turn off RTH, send it over the target ...

The limits of "follow me"are in Europe are 50 meters in height and 200 meters "horizontal" distance

What about the autoland issue (in some cassa autoland start when battery is at 40%)? That is the main problem for me

Can you check in the FF6 home page menu, when you click on top on the ‘drone’ little icon, it should show a menu with the Anafi info (Anafi serial number, firmware versions, satellites status, battery remaining percentage...).

One of the parameter (different to the battery remaining voltage percentage, is called the ‘battery capacity’ (also expressed in %).

Could you post your battery remaining % and battery capacity % parameters ?

In my case it happened just 3 time (but was really hard to recover the bird in the mountain), battery was at 40% the first time and 35% the second and third time. All other flights are ok, the problem is the algorithm, not the battery.
I have 2 different battery...

Sometimes we need it to follow a car or boat so even though more than 50m, it is still a big object to follow and easily trackable. Can the limit be disabled?

This really needs to be tested before everyone panics. We are not sure how it is being implemented 50m line of sight restriction - or no horizontal restriction but 50m height restriction.

Also how much leeway will this have as drone and controller positioning is not that accurate due topo on the ground.

I've just used follow me to follow my car while I was driving. From the altitude of 30m and about 10m behind, it worked flawlessly, using the moded version of @ds2atc. It was well clear above any buildings in my neighborhood and, to be honest, any further than that will show the car pretty small.

My thoughts exactly. I still own and fly a DJI Spark but DJI discontinued it over a year ago, and stopped showing love for it via the Go4 app nearly two years ago. Therefore the Go4 App I’m using is over two years old.

I also have DJI Spark and I agree. I haven't updated the last 3 firmware on Spark anymore. (there were also problems with the firmware)
